On August 9, Singapore's 56th national day, a grand parade was held on the Marina Bay stage. President Halima, Premier Lee Hsien Loong and Honorary Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong attended the ceremony.
A National Day Ceremonial Parade took place at The Float @ Marina Bay, with about 600 participants from the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and the Home Team on site. About 200 more participants from nine uniformed youth groups and 12 social and economic organisations also participated in the parade virtually. The virtual participation of the youth and civilian contingents is a first for a National Day parade. The youth uniformed groups have adopted a “one school, one uniformed group” policy to accommodate COVID-19 safe management measures. It confirmed the country's ability to cope with adversity.
APEC Institute of Business immediately sent blessings from representatives from all walks of life. The cooperative media Singapore Eye also embedded this video into the on-site report, and received up to 80000 broadcasts, which made the whole island feel this sincere blessing.
In the National Day speech, Premier Lee Hsien Loong said:
Our nation building has come a long way since, but our journey continues. From time to time, new crises will again test our resolve and unity. But Covid-19 has shown that we can face them with grit and determination, and stay one united people. As this year's NDP (National Day Parade) theme song goes, "We did it before, and we'll do it again!" I am confident that Singapore can keep on building a more harmonious society, a more prosperous economy, and a more successful nation for generations to come.
Happy National Day!
